What good came out of the September 11 attacks?

Yes,It was just for a second too but,as soon as america cried foul for terrorists to bomb civilian targets.I was the first to phone in to complain of the double standards,the sheer hypocrisy of it.Just a few weeks before,there was a doentary on the T.V about the New York police going around the bars,collecting money for the IRA.This money was to be used to buy arms,ammunition and explosives.They explained that it was to fight British imperialism.Didn't Al Quaida say something along those lines after the WTC?
